Kathleen Crook

Co-Founder and Executive Chef

Everywhere you find Chef Kathleen Crook, big laughter and good food follows.

Chef Crook has always found joy in food and felt a deep respect for where it comes from. In her hometown of Artesia, NM, nightly supper is akin to worship, with folks in the small-town community eating only what comes from the land. Growing up in Artesia, farm to table was more than a fancy marketing term, it was a way of life. When she wasn’t in school, she was working her Daddy’s farm and her Mama’s steers, or working alongside her Granny Jackie, who ran a local catering business known every bit as much for fun as food.

After high school, she was awarded a College Rodeo Scholarship. She traveled the circuit for three years, ultimately winning the prestigious World Champion Breakaway Roper. But in 1997, she felt a tug back to the land and back to food. She hung up her spurs for good and reached for a chef’s knife.

She whizzed her way through the curriculum at Scottsdale Culinary Institute Le Cordon Bleu, and burst onto the Dallas food scene in 2003. She honed her artistry under culinary masters like Tom Fleming of Central 214, Mickie Crockett of Front Burner Restaurants, Gilbert Garza of Suze, and Marc Cassel of 20 Feet Seafood Joint.

In 2010, Crook was drawn back to the west, and moved Aspen, CO to open Steakhouse 316. While in Aspen, she received national recognition as one of the Best Chef’s in America and was featured on Season 2 of Cooking Channel’s “Chuck’s Eat the Street.”

In 2018, Chef Crook returned to her native state of New Mexico as owner and executive chef of Market Steer Steakhouse. Here she is sharing her knowledge of beef, respect for fresh foods, and her own particular brand of joie de vivre with the Santa Fe foodie community.

Kristina Goode

Co-Founder and General Manager

When it comes to hospitality, Kristina Goode is a natural. Growing up in Dallas, Texas, she was voted “most entertaining” by her peers in high school, with friends saying that “hanging with Kristina is like watching the funniest show on TV, but somehow even better.” It’s no surprise that she took her gifts and put them to work in hospitality, She kicked off her 20+ year career at Brinker International in 1996.

Over the next decade, Kristina would work every position in the biz: Hostess, Bartender, Server, and eventually General Manager. She’s worked alongside the best of the best: Chef Kathleen Crook, Abraham Salum, and celebrity chef, David Burke.

In 2010, CP Restaurant group tapped Kristina to work as General Manager for Steakhouse 316, and she moved from Dallas to Aspen. While there, Kristina worked tirelessly to build a culture of exceptional service and to create an atmosphere that made every guest feel as if a night spent at her restaurant was the best night ever. Before too long, her hard work paid off, attracting a long list of celebrity regulars who came for the fun every bit as much for the food.

Ms. Goode runs her restaurants on respect – respect for her guest, her employees, and the food – paired with a fine splash of fun. She brings that same approach to Market Steer Steakhouse.

Tyler Rudoff

Partner / Beverage Director

Tyler has been fortunate to work in some of the most admired restaurants throughout the country. He started his hospitality journey in his hometown of Santa Fe, NM at age 15. Tyler moved to Chicago in 2006 to pursue his dreams of becoming a sommelier and honing his skills in the industry. He worked at the Michelin Starred Restaurant, Spiaggia, under renowned chef, Tony Mantuano. During his tenure, Spiaggia had 4 nominations for ‘Outstanding Restaurant’ and 3 nominations for ‘Outstanding Service’ by the James Beard Foundation. Next, he made the move to Lettuce Entertain You, a large hospitality group in Chicago, to be a sommelier at RPM Steak and RPM Italian. After 11 years in Chicago, Tyler felt the call to return home to New Mexico. Tyler worked as a Sales Representative for Republic National Distribution for 7 years creating relationships that would eventually lead him to his partnership with Market Steer Steakhouse. In 2023, Tyler became the Beverage Director of Market Steer Steakhouse, bringing his knowledge of wine, his charming demeanor and his values of excellent service and hospitality.
